“When did you start writing and performing your music.
What’s your backstory and current lineup.”

The October:

“We’ve all been friends for a long time. Brandon Platz (co-founding member) and myself (Brandon Poe) started writing and playing songs in early 2022. By Fall we started recording our EP and it was originally released on Halloween day. We have continued on since then writing and playing shows despite going through several drummers and Brandon Platz’s departure from the band. The current line up is Brandon Poe (guitar vocals) , Anthony Friday (bass vocals) , and Sam Cawood (drums).”

 VMS:

“What artist or bands inspire you and your sound.”

The October:

“We are inspired by a lot. Red hot chili peppers, Primus, Black Flag, Surf Curse, Alice in Chains, STP, Ween, The Garden, Arctic Monkeys… the list goes on Lol.”

VMS:

“What’s your writing process and inspiration for your lyrics.”

The October:

“When writing one of us usually brings a song in either finished or nearly finished and we will polish it up otherwise we jam in our studio and come up with new songs together.”

VMS:

“I love your songs “Nicotine”, “Apathetic” and “Creature”. What is the inspiration or story behind these songs.”

The October:

“The songs “Nicotine” and “Apathetic” touch on life, love, addiction and depression. As for “Creature” it was inspired by old monster movies lol.”

Vegas Music Scene Thoughts:

What I love about The October is their incredibly fun, infectious and sometimes incredibly dark (but real) songs. They are not afraid to be an open book to the listener, and I appreciate that vulnerability in a band. They talk about a wide range of topics from Addiction, Loss, Love, Depression and Creature Features (My personal favorite topic. Lol)

With Stand out tracks like “Nicotine” which is about addiction, has a beautiful melancholy vibe to it and really shows the complexity of the band. But than on tracks like “All The Time” and “NPS”, they switch gears and give an upbeat punk rock balls to the wall attitude and are such truly fun and infectious tracks, they just instantly make me want to get up and dance, mosh, break things, whatever….lol. I guess that is the testament to their wonderful musicianship, it’s hard to make such drastic musical changes, but they do it so flawlessly, it really is impressive to listen too.

I highly recommend to get the full experience of The October, you really need to go see them at one of their live shows, I feel that’s where they really shine. Their EP’s are wonderful, but I feel you can’t fully appreciate an artist unless you see them live.Their shows are truly a one of a kind emotional musical rollercoaster for the listener and I can guarantee you will  always have a great time!

I’m incredibly excited to see where the future takes The October, I already feel they have a wonderful road ahead of them, just keep doing what you do, your evolution musically and lyrically from EP “Fall” to “Nothing To Lose” is already an incredibly impressive one, so I can’t wait to see what other musical landscapes and tricks you all have up your sleeves. I know no matter what happens, the ride will definitely be an interesting one.
