AOTW: Krowe

Hello Rockstars! Today’s Artist of the Week is Alt-Rock Band Krowe!
Here’s their story in their own words, Enjoy!

They have a new song called “Tiny Box” out now wherever you stream or purchase music!
Check it out on Bandcamp or Spotify!

VMS:

“When did you start writing and performing your music. What’s your back story and current line up.”

Krowe:

Krowe consists of:

Jules Manning on Bass.

Barrett Ver Planck on Lead Vocals and Guitar.

Ava Brumfield on Drums.

“We formed in late 2023. Barrett and Jules got together around November and started working out some riffs and piecing together some rough song ideas. A couple months later Ava joined the group on drums and we became a unit. We release our first single Out The Door in January of 2024 and have been playing live ever since.”

VMS:

“What artist or bands inspire you and your sound?”

Krowe:

“There’s just to many bands to due to all of us being massive music heads one of the things that bond the three of us but if we had to choose favorite genres Jules likes Oldies, Barrett likes Alternative and Ava likes Prog.”

VMS:

“What’s your writing process and inspiration for your lyrics?”

Krowe:

“Jules usually comes up with a riff he’s been holding in his back pocket and then Barrett will write something coolish on guitar. After we jam it for a while it becomes something totally different and better than what we initially had. We write songs in like an hour. Lyrics come later after Barrett sits down with the track for a couple days or he never writes lyrics for it and makes them up on the spot at every show.”

VMS:

“I love your song “Out the Door”. What is the inspiration or the story behind the song.”

Krowe:

“One of us was in a relationship with someone who was in and out of sight and making things much harder than they needed to be. Ya know relationships are like a job. Sometimes its best to quit and find a new one but bad times make the best songs.”

Listen to “Out The Door” on Spotify:

VMS:

“Which local artist would you like to work with and why.”

Krowe:

“The ultimate goal would be to work with a Las Vegas staple like The Killers as we’re sure most peoples answer would be but there are also many great up and coming acts in Vegas to work with as well such as our friends Simple Fishes, The Red Seduction, and The Soft Echo just to name a few.”

VMS:

“What’s your overall message of your music.”

Krowe:

“Our lyrical message can vary from telling a story about a past relationship to creating a fictional character and seeing life through their eyes.

Our message to the people though? Listen to more rock n roll!”

VMS:

“Do you have a favorite song you like to perform.”

Krowe:

“Barrett’s favorite song is “B4”. It’s just so fun to play on guitar and sing. Jules’s favorite song to play is “Soul Like You” Ava’s favorite song to play is “Provo” None of those are our single so you’ll have to come see us to hear them.”

VMS:

“Do you have any crazy or interesting stories from working in the music scene.”

Krowe:

“One time I played a show with a drummer who was so high they literally fell asleep on stage. I noticed the tempo slowing down quite a bit and then I looked back at the kit and they were still playing the drums passed tf out. probably shouldn’t have fired them because obviously they could play literally in their sleep but also; can’t sleep on the clock.” –Barrett

VMS:

“What does the future hold for Krowe.”

Krowe:

“Initially we are excited to finish recording our first record. Long term goal? Would be nice to make some mailbox money so we don’t have to work day jobs anymore. For the short term we’re finishing up our first album and working on some out of state shows.”

VMS:

“What do you want your audience to feel and experience at one of your live shows.”

Krowe:

“We like the audience to feel like they are part of our family. We keep shows energetic by engaging and interacting with the crowd while showing people that rock n roll is very much alive.”

Vegas Music Scene Thoughts:

VMS Thoughts:

What I love about Krowe is their unapologetically unique sound and music. They talk about love and achingly beautiful heartache in songs like “Out The Door”, where you can hear the longing in his vocals mixed with their powerful guitar and commanding drums, I definitely ended up listening to this song multiple times, simply because I kept wanting to get myself lost in the music and the story over and over. “Out The Door” is definitely one of those songs that will stay with you well after the music is over, it just resonates that deeply.

I appreciate they continue that same feeling with their new song “Tiny Box”, which is about wanting to love this person, but they unfortunately only see you in a certain way and try to put you in a metaphorical box, which our singer sounds like is do desperately trying to get out of. It’s a beautiful song, but also one I can feel we all identify with, since love is wonderful but a truly fickle and complicated thing.

To compliment their excellent storytelling, they are simply killer musicians who not only know their craft very well with their wonderful music and sound, but also in their live performances they definitely put on one hell of a show. I encourage you to go see them live, so you can get the full experience of this band.

I can’t wait for what the future holds for Krowe, I think they are amazing at what they do, and I’m excited to see the evolution of their music and hopefully an EP or Album will be in their future. Whatever the journey is I know I’m definitely going along for the ride.

They are raw, real, gritty,  and true rock n rollers, and I’m proud to call them my Artist of the Week.
